Hello humans of the internet (or whatever else you prefer more), it’s Chris here and I just wanted to give all of you a little update with what’s been going on with the recording process and whatever else crosses my mind.
If you haven’t noticed there haven’t been too many posts regarding recording and there are two main reasons for this. One, I’m in the process of recording all of the synths/extra little parts at my home and haven’t been driving over yonder to record where all the cool stuff is at. The other reason is the EP is oh so very close to being finished with tracking. It’s been a long time coming with busy schedules and working around real life, but it’s been worth the wait. I’ve never been more proud of something that I’ve made in my musical life and I hope you all can listen to it and bring out some unique relation with it.
Having noted that the EP is almost finished I figured it would be a good time to share with you how this release and the demo version of Statue (that I’m assuming you’ve all heard by now, but if not head on over to: http://www.ivydye.bandcamp.com to check it out) differ. When I first got the ideas for Statue recorded it was October of 2011. I was going for a more typical straightforward rock sound, which I’m not bailing out on entirely, but you’ll notice that I’ve also included a lot of electronic influences into the songs, Statue included. I’ve had time to experience new and older bands and musicians that have really rubbed off on the sound that you’ll be hearing.
In a way I’m sorry for everyone who was looking forward to hearing the horns making a return, but it doesn’t seem like that’ll be happening. The only reason I’m sorry is because I feel like this older demo is almost falsely advertising what this project is going to be. I know this makes it seem like there’s going to be a huge difference, but I can promise you if you liked that demo you will enjoy what’s coming.
Thanks for the support,
Oh yeah, let us not forget shows will be starting up this summer as well. Chicago, I hope to see a lot of you coming out.
